Let’s be real — keeping track of who’s using your beats isn’t always easy. Some artists never send back finished tracks, and others might even use your beats without permission. The good news is that there are music tracking tools and services that help you find where your beats are being used across streaming platforms and social media. In this post, I’ll go over some of the best options available, so you can decide which one works best for you.

And before we dive in, if you’re interested in removing unauthorized tracks from streaming platforms due to copyright infringement, check out my post on that topic. Hopefully, you’ll never need it, but it’s better to be prepared!

Disclaimer ☝️ All the services mentioned below were tested by a good friend of mine, 4Klassix — huge thanks to him for sharing his insights! I’ve simply compiled the information into this article.

BeatID: music tracking tool for BeatStars users

BeatStars BeatID is a music tracking tool available to all BeatStars producers. While it’s not the fastest or most comprehensive option (sometimes taking weeks to deliver results), it can be useful if you’re already subscribed to a paid BeatStars plan and need to track your beats occasionally.

  • Price: $2 per track/month. If you have a Growth plan ($6.67/month) or Professional plan ($19.99/month), you get 1 or 3 free monthly credits, respectively (1 credit = 1 beat).
  • Platforms Covered: YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, SoundCloud, Twitch, Audiomack, and more.
  • Downsides: Does not track Spotify; slow scan time (2-3 weeks), and sometimes tracks get stuck in “processing” forever.

BeatLock: the most powerful beat usage tracking service

BeatLock is one of the fastest and most effective music tracking tools. It uses a credit-based system, meaning you pay per search. If you need quick insights into where your beats are being used, this tool is a solid choice. The only issue is that right now, new sign-ups are closed.

  • Price: 50 searches for $2.49, 100 searches for $4.99, unlimited searches for $9.99/month.
  • Platforms Covered: Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and more.
  • Key Features: Fast searches (~30 seconds), shows ISRC, release date, and sometimes even the artist’s social media profiles. Clean, simple interface.
  • Downsides: New accounts cannot be registered at the moment, so you’ll need to find someone who already has access.

ArtistConnect: send loops, beats, and track your music

ArtistConnect is primarily a platform for sending beats and loops to artists. However, they recently introduced Placement Tracking, which works for both instrumentals and samples. From my experience, this feature finds even more results than BeatLock.

  • Price: $11.99/month for unlimited searches.
  • Platforms Covered: Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal.
  • Key Features: Results usually arrive within 24 hours, and you’ll receive email notifications for new matches. This music tracking tool also provides track popularity metrics and a “Claim Royalties” feature (though I haven’t quite figured out how that works yet).
  • Downsides: Outdated and slightly confusing interface, but you’ll get used to it.

Wavesmatch: the best music tracking tool for producers

Wavesmatch stands out for its comprehensive coverage and speed. If you need detailed tracking across multiple streaming services, this is a great choice. In my opinion, it’s the best music tracking tool for producers.

  • Price: $10/month for 50 searches, $15/month for 100 searches, $35/month for 500 searches.
  • Platforms Covered: YouTube, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, iTunes, Apple Music, and more.
  • Key Features: Fast results (a couple of minutes). Provides detailed track data, including ISRC codes, which are crucial for collecting royalties.
  • Downsides: Their website mentions Content ID, but keep in mind — it’s not YouTube Content ID. Their system only works with Facebook and TikTok, not YouTube.

So which music tracking service is right for you?

Each of these tools has its strengths. If you need a quick and affordable way to check for placements, BeatLock (if you can access it) and Wavesmatch are solid choices. If you’re already using BeatStars, BeatID might be enough for occasional tracking. And if you also send out loops or samples, ArtistConnect could be a useful all-in-one tool.

Whatever tool you choose, tracking your beats is only one part of protecting your music. If you want to fully protect your beats from unauthorized use, check out my post on YouTube Content ID and how it helps producers secure their beats.
